with our ears
שָׁמַ֗עְנוּ

אֲבוֹתֵ֥ינוּ

סִפְּרוּ־

לָ֑נוּ

פֹּ֥עַל
the deeds
פָּעַ֥לְתָּ
You did
בִֽ֝ימֵיהֶ֗ם
in their days
בִּ֣ימֵי
in days
קֶֽדֶם׃
of old

אַתָּ֤ה ׀
You
יָדְךָ֡
with Your hand
גּוֹיִ֣ם
the nations
ה֭וֹרַשְׁתָּ
drove out
וַתִּטָּעֵ֑ם
but them You planted
תָּרַ֥ע
You afflicted
לְ֝אֻמִּ֗ים
the peoples
וַֽתְּשַׁלְּחֵֽם׃
and cast them out

כִּ֤י
For
לֹ֪א
not
בְחַרְבָּ֡ם
by their own sword
יָ֥רְשׁוּ
they did gain possession
אָ֗רֶץ
of the land
וּזְרוֹעָם֮
and their own arm
לֹא־
nor
הוֹשִׁ֪יעָ֫ה
did save
לָּ֥מוֹ
them
כִּֽי־
but
יְמִֽינְךָ֣
it was Your right hand
וּ֭זְרוֹעֲךָ
and Your arm
וְא֥וֹר
and the light
פָּנֶ֗יךָ
of Your countenance
כִּ֣י
because
רְצִיתָֽם׃
You favored them

אַתָּה־
You
ה֣וּא
are
מַלְכִּ֣י
my King
אֱלֹהִ֑ים
God
צַ֝וֵּ֗ה
Command
יְשׁוּע֥וֹת
victories for
יַעֲקֹֽב׃
Jacob

בְּ֭ךָ
Through You
צָרֵ֣ינוּ
our enemies
נְנַגֵּ֑חַ
we will push down
בְּ֝שִׁמְךָ֗
Through Your name
נָב֥וּס
we will trample
קָמֵֽינוּ׃
those who rise up against us

כִּ֤י
For
לֹ֣א
not
בְקַשְׁתִּ֣י
in my bow
אֶבְטָ֑ח
I will trust
וְ֝חַרְבִּ֗י
and my sword
לֹ֣א
nor
תוֹשִׁיעֵֽנִי׃
shall save me
7
כִּ֣י
But
ה֭וֹשַׁעְתָּנוּ
You have saved us
מִצָּרֵ֑ינוּ
from our enemies
וּמְשַׂנְאֵ֥ינוּ
and those who hated us
הֱבִישֽׁוֹתָ׃
have put to shame

בֵּֽ֭אלֹהִים
In God
הִלַּלְ֣נוּ
we boast
כָל־
all
הַיּ֑וֹם
day long
וְשִׁמְךָ֓ ׀
and Your name
לְעוֹלָ֖ם
forever
נוֹדֶ֣ה
praise
סֶֽלָה׃
Selah

אַף־
But
זָ֭נַחְתָּ
You have cast [us] off
וַתַּכְלִימֵ֑נוּ
and put us to shame
וְלֹא־
and not
תֵ֝צֵ֗א
You do go out
בְּצִבְאוֹתֵֽינוּ׃
with our armies
10
תְּשִׁיבֵ֣נוּ
You make us turn
אָ֭חוֹר
back
מִנִּי־
from
צָ֑ר
the enemy
וּ֝מְשַׂנְאֵ֗ינוּ
and those who hate us
שָׁ֣סוּ
have taken spoil
לָֽמוֹ׃
for themselves

תִּ֭תְּנֵנוּ
You have given us up
כְּצֹ֣אן
like sheep
מַאֲכָ֑ל
[intended] for food
וּ֝בַגּוֹיִ֗ם
and among the nations
זֵרִיתָֽנוּ׃
have scattered us
12
תִּמְכֹּֽר־
You sell
עַמְּךָ֥
Your people
בְלֹא־
for
ה֑וֹן
[next to] nothing
וְלֹ֥א־
and not
רִ֝בִּ֗יתָ
are enriched
בִּמְחִירֵיהֶֽם׃
by selling them

תְּשִׂימֵ֣נוּ
You make us
חֶ֭רְפָּה
a reproach
לִשְׁכֵנֵ֑ינוּ
to our neighbors
לַ֥עַג
a scorn
וָ֝קֶ֗לֶס
and a derision
לִסְבִיבוֹתֵֽינוּ׃
to those all around us

תְּשִׂימֵ֣נוּ
You make us
מָ֭שָׁל
a byword
בַּגּוֹיִ֑ם
among the nations
מְנֽוֹד־
a shaking
רֹ֝֗אשׁ
of the head
בַּל־
among
אֻמִּֽים׃
the peoples
15
כָּל־
All
הַ֭יּוֹם
continually
כְּלִמָּתִ֣י
My dishonor [is]
נֶגְדִּ֑י
before me
וּבֹ֖שֶׁת
and the shame
פָּנַ֣י
of my face
כִּסָּֽתְנִי׃
has covered me

מִ֭קּוֹל
Because of the voice
מְחָרֵ֣ף
of him who reproaches
וּמְגַדֵּ֑ף
and reviles
מִפְּנֵ֥י
because
א֝וֹיֵ֗ב
of the enemy
וּמִתְנַקֵּֽם׃
and the avenger

כָּל־
All
זֹ֣את
this
בָּ֭אַתְנוּ
has come upon us
וְלֹ֣א
but not
שְׁכַחֲנ֑וּךָ
we have forgotten You
וְלֹֽא־
nor
שִׁ֝קַּ֗רְנוּ
have we dealt falsely
בִּבְרִיתֶֽךָ׃
with Your covenant

לֹא־
Not
נָס֣וֹג
has turned
אָח֣וֹר
back
לִבֵּ֑נוּ
Our heart
וַתֵּ֥ט
nor have departed
אֲשֻׁרֵ֗ינוּ
our steps
מִנִּ֥י
from
אָרְחֶֽךָ׃
Your way

כִּ֣י
but
דִ֭כִּיתָנוּ
You have severely broken us
בִּמְק֣וֹם
in the place
תַּנִּ֑ים
of jackals
וַתְּכַ֖ס
and covered
עָלֵ֣ינוּ
us
בְצַלְמָֽוֶת׃
with the shadow of death

אִם־
If
שָׁ֭כַחְנוּ
we had forgotten
שֵׁ֣ם
the name
אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ
of our God
וַנִּפְרֹ֥שׂ
Or stretched out
כַּ֝פֵּ֗ינוּ
our hands
לְאֵ֣ל
to a god
זָֽר׃

כְּצֹ֣אן
as sheep
טִבְחָֽה׃
for the slaughter

Awake
לָ֖מָּה

תִישַׁ֥ן ׀
do You sleep
אֲדֹנָ֑י
Lord
הָ֝קִ֗יצָה
Arise
אַל־
not
תִּזְנַ֥ח
do cast [us] off
לָנֶֽצַח׃
forever

לָֽמָּה־
Why
פָנֶ֥יךָ
Your face
תַסְתִּ֑יר
do You hide
תִּשְׁכַּ֖ח
[And] forget
עָנְיֵ֣נוּ
our affliction
וְֽלַחֲצֵֽנוּ׃
and our oppression

כִּ֤י
for
שָׁ֣חָה
is bowed down
לֶעָפָ֣ר
to the dust
נַפְשֵׁ֑נוּ
our soul
דָּבְקָ֖ה
clings
לָאָ֣רֶץ
to the ground
בִּטְנֵֽנוּ׃
Our body

ק֭וּמָֽה
Arise
עֶזְרָ֣תָה
for help
לָּ֑נוּ
our
וּ֝פְדֵ֗נוּ
and redeem us
לְמַ֣עַן
for sake
חַסְדֶּֽךָ׃
Your mercies'
