A Psalm of David
רִיבָ֣ה
Plead [my cause]
יְ֭הוָה
Yahweh
אֶת־

יְרִיבַ֑י
those who strive with me
לְ֝חַ֗ם

לֹֽחֲמָֽי׃
those who fight against me

הַחֲזֵ֣ק
Take hold
מָגֵ֣ן
of shield
וְצִנָּ֑ה
and buckler
וְ֝ק֗וּמָה
and stand up
בְּעֶזְרָתִֽי׃
for my help

וְהָ֘רֵ֤ק
And draw out
חֲנִ֣ית
the spear
וּ֭סְגֹר
and stop
לִקְרַ֣את
-
רֹדְפָ֑י
those who pursue me
אֱמֹ֥ר
Say
לְ֝נַפְשִׁ֗י
to my soul
יְֽשֻׁעָתֵ֥ךְ
your salvation
אָֽנִי׃
I [am]

יֵבֹ֣שׁוּ
Let those be put to shame
וְיִכָּלְמוּ֮
and brought to dishonor
מְבַקְשֵׁ֪י
who seek after
נַ֫פְשִׁ֥י
my life
יִסֹּ֣גוּ
let those be turned
אָח֣וֹר
back
וְיַחְפְּר֑וּ
and brought to confusion
חֹ֝שְׁבֵ֗י
who plot
רָעָתִֽי׃
my hurt

יִֽהְי֗וּ
Let them be
כְּמֹ֥ץ
like chaff
לִפְנֵי־
before
ר֑וּחַ
the wind
וּמַלְאַ֖ךְ
and the angel
יְהוָ֣ה
of Yahweh
דּוֹחֶֽה׃
let chase [them]

Let be
דַרְכָּ֗ם
their way
חֹ֥שֶׁךְ
dark
וַחֲלַקְלַקּ֑וֹת
and slippery
וּמַלְאַ֥ךְ
and the angel
יְ֝הוָ֗ה
of Yahweh
רֹדְפָֽם׃
let pursue them

כִּֽי־
For
חִנָּ֣ם
without cause
טָֽמְנוּ־
they have hidden
לִ֭י
for me
שַׁ֣חַת
[in] a pit
רִשְׁתָּ֑ם
their net
חִ֝נָּ֗ם
without cause
חָפְר֥וּ
[Which] they have dug
לְנַפְשִֽׁי׃
for my life

תְּבוֹאֵ֣הוּ
Let come upon him
שׁוֹאָה֮
destruction
לֹֽא־
not
יֵ֫דָ֥ע
unexpectedly
וְרִשְׁתּ֣וֹ
and his net
אֲשֶׁר־
that
טָמַ֣ן
let he has hidden
תִּלְכְּד֑וֹ
catch himself
בְּ֝שׁוֹאָ֗ה
Into that very destruction
יִפָּל־
let him fall
בָּֽהּ׃
in

וְ֭נַפְשִׁי
And my soul
תָּגִ֣יל
shall be joyful
בַּיהוָ֑ה
in Yahweh
תָּ֝שִׂישׂ
it shall rejoice
בִּישׁוּעָתֽוֹ׃
in His salvation

כָּ֥ל
All
עַצְמוֹתַ֨י ׀
my bones
תֹּאמַרְנָה֮
shall say
יְהוָ֗ה
Yahweh
מִ֥י
who [is]
כָ֫מ֥וֹךָ
like You
מַצִּ֣יל
Delivering
עָ֭נִי
the poor
מֵחָזָ֣ק
from him who is stronger
מִמֶּ֑נּוּ
than he
וְעָנִ֥י
and Yes the poor
וְ֝אֶבְי֗וֹן
and the needy
מִגֹּזְלֽוֹ׃
from him who plunders him

עֵדֵ֣י

שְׁכ֣וֹל

לְנַפְשִֽׁי׃

וַאֲנִ֤י ׀

בַּחֲלוֹתָ֡ם

לְב֬וּשִׁי
My clothing [was]
שָׂ֗ק
sackcloth
עִנֵּ֣יתִי
humbled
בַצּ֣וֹם
with fasting
נַפְשִׁ֑י
myself
וּ֝תְפִלָּתִ֗י
and my prayer
עַל־
to
חֵיקִ֥י
my own heart
תָשֽׁוּב׃
would return

כְּרֵֽעַ־
As though [he were] my friend
כְּאָ֣ח

לִ֭י

הִתְהַלָּ֑כְתִּי
I paced about
כַּאֲבֶל־
as one mourning [for]
אֵ֝֗ם
[his] mother
קֹדֵ֥ר
Heavily
שַׁחֽוֹתִי׃
I bowed down

וּבְצַלְעִי֮
But in my adversity
שָׂמְח֪וּ
they rejoiced
וְֽנֶאֱ֫סָ֥פוּ
and gathered together
נֶאֶסְפ֬וּ
gathered
עָלַ֣י
against me
נֵ֭כִים
Attackers
וְלֹ֣א
and not
יָדַ֑עְתִּי
I did know [it]
קָֽרְע֥וּ
they tore [at me]
וְלֹא־
and not
דָֽמּוּ׃
did cease

בְּ֭חַנְפֵי
With hypocritical
לַעֲגֵ֣י
mockers
מָע֑וֹג
at feasts
חָרֹ֖ק
they gnashed
עָלַ֣י
at me
שִׁנֵּֽימוֹ׃
with their teeth

אֲדֹנָי֮
Lord
כַּמָּ֪ה
how long
תִּ֫רְאֶ֥ה
will You look on
הָשִׁ֣יבָה
Rescue
נַ֭פְשִׁי
me
מִשֹּׁאֵיהֶ֑ם
from their destructions
מִ֝כְּפִירִ֗ים
from the lions
יְחִידָתִֽי׃
My precious [life]

א֭וֹדְךָ
I will give You thanks
בְּקָהָ֣ל
in the assembly
רָ֑ב

בְּעַ֖ם

עָצ֣וּם

אֲהַֽלְלֶֽךָּ׃
I will praise You

יִשְׂמְחוּ־
let rejoice
לִ֣י
over me
אֹיְבַ֣י
them who are my enemies
שֶׁ֑קֶר

שֹׂנְאַ֥י
who hate me
חִ֝נָּ֗ם
nor let them wink
יִקְרְצוּ־

עָֽיִן׃

מִמֶּֽנִּי׃

הָעִ֣ירָה
Stir up Yourself
וְ֭הָקִיצָה
and awake
לְמִשְׁפָּטִ֑י
to my vindication
אֱלֹהַ֖י
my God
וַֽאדֹנָ֣י
and my Lord
לְרִיבִֽי׃
To my cause

שָׁפְטֵ֣נִי
Vindicate me
כְ֭צִדְקְךָ
according to Your righteousness
יְהוָ֥ה

אֱלֹהָ֗י
my God
וְאַל־
and not
יִשְׂמְחוּ־
let them rejoice
לִֽי׃
over me

יֹאמְר֣וּ
let them say
בְ֭לִבָּם
in their hearts
הֶאָ֣ח
Ah
נַפְשֵׁ֑נוּ
so we would have it

יֹ֝אמְר֗וּ
let them say
בִּֽלַּעֲנֽוּהוּ׃

וְיַחְפְּר֨וּ ׀

יָרֹ֣נּוּ
Let them shout for joy
וְיִשְׂמְחוּ֮
and be glad
חֲפֵצֵ֪י
who favor
צִ֫דְקִ֥י
my righteous [cause]
וְיֹאמְר֣וּ
and let them say
תָ֭מִיד
continually
יִגְדַּ֣ל
let be magnified
יְהוָ֑ה
Yahweh
הֶ֝חָפֵ֗ץ
who has pleasure
שְׁל֣וֹם
in the prosperity
עַבְדּֽוֹ׃
of His servant

וּ֭לְשׁוֹנִי
And my tongue
תֶּהְגֶּ֣ה
shall speak
צִדְקֶ֑ךָ
of Your righteousness
כָּל־
all
הַ֝יּוֹם
the day long
תְּהִלָּתֶֽךָ׃
[And] of Your praise
