My mouth
יְדַבֵּ֣ר
shall speak
חָכְמ֑וֹת
wisdom
וְהָג֖וּת
and the meditation
לִבִּ֣י
of my heart [shall give]
תְבוּנֽוֹת׃
understanding

אַטֶּ֣ה
I will incline
לְמָשָׁ֣ל
to a proverb
אָזְנִ֑י
my ear
אֶפְתַּ֥ח
I will disclose
בְּ֝כִנּ֗וֹר
on the harp
חִידָתִֽי׃
my dark saying

לָ֣מָּה
Why
אִ֭ירָא
should I fear
בִּ֣ימֵי
in the days
רָ֑ע
of evil
עֲוֺ֖ן
[when] the iniquity at
עֲקֵבַ֣י
my heels
יְסוּבֵּֽנִי׃
surrounds me

הַבֹּטְחִ֥ים
Those who trust
עַל־
in
חֵילָ֑ם
their wealth
וּבְרֹ֥ב
and in the multitude
עָ֝שְׁרָ֗ם
of their riches
יִתְהַלָּֽלוּ׃
boast
7
אָ֗ח
[his] brother
לֹא־
none [of them]
פָדֹ֣ה
by any means
יִפְדֶּ֣ה
can redeem
אִ֑ישׁ
-
לֹא־
nor
יִתֵּ֖ן
give
לֵאלֹהִ֣ים
to God
כָּפְרֽוֹ׃
a ransom for him

וְ֭יֵקַר
For [is] costly
פִּדְי֥וֹן
the redemption
נַפְשָׁ֗ם
of their souls
וְחָדַ֥ל
and it shall cease
לְעוֹלָֽם׃
forever
9
וִֽיחִי־
That he should to live
ע֥וֹד
continue
לָנֶ֑צַח
eternally
לֹ֖א
[And] not
יִרְאֶ֣ה
see
הַשָּֽׁחַת׃
the Pit

כִּ֤י
For
יִרְאֶ֨ה ׀
he sees
חֲכָ֘מִ֤ים
wise men
יָמ֗וּתוּ
die
יַ֤חַד
Likewise
כְּסִ֣יל
the fool
וָבַ֣עַר
and the stupid person
יֹאבֵ֑דוּ
perish
וְעָזְב֖וּ
and leave
לַאֲחֵרִ֣ים
to others
חֵילָֽם׃
their wealth

קִרְבָּ֤ם
Their inner thought [is that]
בָּתֵּ֨ימוֹ ׀
their houses [will last]
לְֽעוֹלָ֗ם
forever
מִ֭שְׁכְּנֹתָם
their dwelling places
לְדֹ֣ר
to
וָדֹ֑ר
and all generations
קָֽרְא֥וּ
they call
בִ֝שְׁמוֹתָ֗ם
after their own names
עֲלֵ֣י
on
אֲדָמֽוֹת׃
[their] lands

וְאָדָ֣ם
And nevertheless man
בִּ֭יקָר
[though] in honor
בַּל־
not
יָלִ֑ין
does remain
נִמְשַׁ֖ל
He is
כַּבְּהֵמ֣וֹת
like the beasts
נִדְמֽוּ׃
[that] perish

זֶ֣ה
This [is]
דַ֭רְכָּם
the way
כֵּ֣סֶל
of those who are foolish
לָ֑מוֹ
to
וְאַחֲרֵיהֶ֓ם ׀
and of their posterity
בְּפִיהֶ֖ם
their sayings
יִרְצ֣וּ
who approve
סֶֽלָה׃
Selah

כַּצֹּ֤אן ׀
Like sheep
לִֽשְׁא֣וֹל
in the grave
שַׁתּוּ֮
they are laid
מָ֤וֶת
Death
יִ֫רְעֵ֥ם
shall feed on them
וַיִּרְדּ֘וּ
and shall have dominion
בָ֤ם
over them
יְשָׁרִ֨ים ׀
the upright
לַבֹּ֗קֶר
in the morning

and their beauty
(וְ֭צוּרָם)
and their beauty
לְבַלּ֥וֹת
shall be consumed
שְׁא֗וֹל

אֱלֹהִ֗ים
God
יִפְדֶּ֣ה
will redeem
נַ֭פְשִׁי
my soul
מִֽיַּד־
from the power
שְׁא֑וֹל
of the grave
כִּ֖י

יִקָּחֵ֣נִי
He shall receive me
סֶֽלָה׃

יַעֲשִׁ֣ר
becomes rich

בֵּיתֽוֹ׃

הַכֹּ֑ל

יֵרֵ֖ד

אַחֲרָ֣יו

כְּבוֹדֽוֹ׃
His glory

כִּֽי־

נַ֭פְשׁוֹ

בְּחַיָּ֣יו
while he lives
יְבָרֵ֑ךְ

וְ֝יוֹדֻ֗ךָ
for [men] will praise you
כִּי־

תֵיטִ֥יב
you do well
לָֽךְ׃

תָּ֭בוֹא
He shall go
עַד־

דּ֣וֹר

אֲבוֹתָ֑יו
of his fathers

they shall never
נֵ֝֗צַח

לֹ֣א

יִרְאוּ־
they shall see
אֽוֹר׃

אָדָ֣ם
A man [who is]
בִּ֭יקָר
in honor
וְלֹ֣א
and yet not
יָבִ֑ין
does understand
נִמְשַׁ֖ל
is
כַּבְּהֵמ֣וֹת
like the beasts
נִדְמֽוּ׃
